NOTICE:

WHAT IS THE OPEN SPACE REFERENDUM AND WHY SHOULD YOU VOTE YES?

  • It is a small tax, of 1 cent per $100 of assessed property value.
  • Creates a dedicated fund to ensure that the resources exist to keep Beach Haven's open spaces beautiful, preserved, maintained, and accessible for years to come.
  • It can be used to fund the acquisition, maintenance, and conservation of Beach Haven's open spaces, including the improvement of parks, beaches, playgrounds, and bay front areas.
  • These improvements are good for the environment AND property values; drawing residents and tourists and improving quality of life.
  • More importantly, it would make Beach Haven eligible for matching grants from New Jersey's Green Acres program, and the County.
  • Several neighboring towns, including Long Beach Township, Ship Bottom, Harvey Cedars, and Barnegat Light have passed similar measures.
