A Day in the Life of a Junior Guard:

All Jr. Guards are provided a uniform and begin each day with a meeting on the beach to go over the plans for the day.  The meeting is followed by a workout that varies daily and requires participants to swim, run, and paddle board.  The program provides an element of professionalism with a great mix of fun and a camp like atmosphere.  Outside competitions where kids can showcase their talents and abilities are offered but not required.  The Junior Lifeguard Program (JLP) is a wonderful way for kids and young adults to gain professional knowledge about ocean and beach safety along with developing friendships and experiences that will last a lifetime!

 More About the JLP:

Beach Haven’s Junior Lifeguard Program started in 2006.  The purpose of the younger program (10yrs. to 12yrs.) is to introduce kids to an ocean education, water safety, swim techniques, and the use of a paddle board.  Participants who are 13-15 years of age will receive an in depth education on ocean conditions, lifesaving techniques, first aid, and a basic overview of how the Beach Haven Beach Patrol system works.  The goal of the JLP is to create a feeder program where former Junior Lifeguards become ocean lifeguards for Beach Haven.
