Test Dates/Information
The test date for anyone interested in being a Lifeguard with the Beach Haven Beach Patrol will be Saturday, June 1 2013. The swim portion of the test will either be held in the ocean or the bay depending on the conditions that day. The test will consist of 5 parts: a 500 meter swim, which must be completed in less that 10 minutes; a timed mile run; a simulated water rescue; a 150lb rescue-dummy drag, from the water to dry sand and an oral interview. All interested candidates should report to Centre Street and the Beach at 10 am on the morning of Saturday, June 1, 2013. It is strongly recommended that interested persons contact Chief Mike Lawrence to reserve a spot prior to June 1, 2013.
The test date for all interested returning guards will be Saturday, June 8, 2013. The time and location will be announced at a later date. All Veteran Lifeguards must indicate their intentions to return no later than May 15,2013 to Chief Mike Lawrence or a position will not be held for them.
Additionally, all Veteran Lifeguards must be prepared to complete a 500 meter swim in less than 10 minutes to maintain employment with the Beach Haven Beach Patrol.

JUNIOR LIFEGUARD PROGRAM
Kicking off in 2005 the Junior Lifeguard Program (JLP) has been successful in training young adults, interested in becoming Lifeguards, in the basics of water safety and rescue. In the 2012 season 16 out the 38 guards had started out in our Junior Lifeguard Program. The program is offered to young adults, ages 14 to 16 in 2 summer sessions over a 2 week period, applicants must be able to swim comfortably in the ocean.
